  • Coming over to Los Gigantes tomorrow and would like advice on where to eat and drink with my wife and 12 yr old daughter. Have already decided to try Tasca El Botigo. Was in Los Gigantes last year and visited the Juan Carlos restaurant and may go back there. Could someone also tell me where I might see the Celtic v Rangers game on Wed night. Any advice much appreciated.

For eating out with your family try el meson

  • I would imagine that Torreon  Sports Bar (opp the Barcelo Hotel in Santiago) will have the football. There are many many places to eat but they are not always consistent, so I could recommend places and then when you go they aren't up to much BUT my all time fave because it is always consistent is the Pescador in Los Gigs (up the stairs from Highland Paddys), for daytime snacks I like Pilgrims in Playa Arena. The Chinese opp the beach in Playa Arena is also good, as well as Juan Llanas just further along. I have heard good reports from the new Retro Bar also in Arena but haven't been there myself. For pizzas I like Bella Napoli in Santiago and for Mexican try Nuevo Mexico beside the Chicken Shack. As I said there are lots of places to try, there are also some lovely new places in Playa San Juan. Read some of the postings and recommndations by Borris y Dorris as well.

  • Hi Janey, agree with you about El Timon, but went to Barco de Nino last week and it was dreadful, bad meal, bad service -, what annoyed me even more was that we complained and they just weren't bothered in the least,  in the past it's been great, that's what I was saying earlier about places not being consistant from one week to the next, it's a shame for the repeat visitors and the people who live here. It's probably one of the best locations to have a meal but the food has to be right.
