  • Yes yes yes!  Go with Ocean Explorer down at Los G harbour.  Betty will do you a deal and they look after you big time.
If you are lucky you will see whales and dolphins depending on what time of year you go.  I have been four times and have never not seen the dolphins.
You will be totally overwhelmed - go and book it! :D

  • Be careful which one you book.    We booked a small boat one year (cannot remember the name of it) it only went to the bay at Masca and past the fish farms.   It didnt actually go out to see like previous ones we had been on.

Get the right trip and it is fantastic!!!

On certain days the only place to guarantee sightings of dolphins is inshore. In these circumstances it would be pointless heading out to sea; leave he navigation of the boat to the skipper and enjoy the ride. You do have the benefit of seeing the magnificent cliff at close quarters when going inshore.

The other factor could be that you only booked a one hour or hour and a half trip which means that time to travel out to sea is limited if you are to spend any time with the dolphins.

I regularly do all the trips available from Los Gigantes Marina, they are all excellent.

  • It was a perfectly clear day in question Poole Pirate, we just chose the wrong trip.   All the other boats were going into the open sea.  I know for next time.

  • we've been several times on Ocean Explorer, unless its changed recently mornings are whale trips afternoons are dolphin trips.  Last time we went on a whale trip we came back round the fish farms and saw dolphins too - I recommend Ocean Explorer,

  • Every year we have been to Los Gigantes and we have always gone on the dolphin trips. I don't think there has ever been a time we haven't seen dolphins or whales, it's a great day out. We were hoping to try a cave cruise this year as that will be a first for us.

  • If you would like a sneak preview of the whales and dolphins click on this link http://www.losgigantes.com/VideoPlayer/ then scroll down to whales and dolphins.

They truely are magnificent creatures and one of the most amazing times in my diving career was obtaining the necessary permit for 9 months to filming them. All the footage was filmed in this area.  Enjoy.
