dog noise

  • Does anyone have any ideas about how to deal with dog noise? Our much-looked-forward-to holiday is being wrecked by two spaniels in Calle Tabaiba which bark constantly. In my experience, thoughtless dog owners do not take kindly to being asked to keep their pets quiet.

  • Ask them politely and see what the reaction is.

  • I know the ones you mean and you have my sympathy.  They have an enthusiastic session of barking whenever I walk past.  I find it hard to understand why people keep dogs in any town, but I seem to be in the minority.  I will continue to walk on the road to avoid the excrement on the pavements and foul-smelling dog pee on every lampost.  Edward Bear's suggestion is all you can really do but I doubt if you will have any success.

  • Where are the apartments, some have a no cat/dog policy maybe that could be enforced.

  • I would have thought that your first port of call would be whoever you booked your holiday with! Is there a booking agent on site or reception? Is the complex tourist registered, if so, how come there are pets on it. Thoughtless dog owners are a pain, but at least in the uk there are laws to deal with them.

  • If these people are inconciderate enough to let their dogs disturb the peace then I doubt you will get anywhere by nicely asking them.

Put a complaint in to the police the local number is 922 867033

Had you been a resident I would suggest putting in a denuncia which will carry far more clout.

  • Keep complaining, keep putting in denuncias and the more people that complain will lead to something being done.

  • Thank you all so much for your sympathetic responses. Knowing that we are not the only people who find this behaviour unacceptable has been a great help. I think we will just have to put up with it. This may seem feeble but our holiday is so precious that we do not want to risk a confrontation and make matters even worse.

May I add that we are not dog haters - we have a beautiful (and quiet) spaniel at home.

    Thanks again for your support.
