Northernboy with about 75% of business in the area BRITISH owned and charging BRITISH prices, perhaps they would be a little more understanding. On second thoughts greed will always get the better

  • Janey, I think you will find that Scottish bank notes are not legal tender in England and Wales. They are not even legal tender in Scotland but they are treated as though they are in Scotland. English and Welsh banks also accept them as such but they can be refused  by traders.

Only coins are legal tender in Scotland.

  • Anyone travelling abroad should get a Nationwide Flex Account. Got 1.262 to the ? at the ATM and for purchases last week in France. No commission or conversion charge! Got 1.278 in LG at the beginning of May. You also get interest on your current account balance. Makes a mockery of the big Banks!!!!!

  • Nationwide is the World?s biggest Building Society after deciding not to convert to a Bank.
Then it would be a fairly large one and no doubt greedier...

Use their Credit and Debit Cards abroad for the Bank Exchange Rate with no commission
    or usage charge.

    See this page http://www.fxcorporation.co.uk/marksandspencer/exchange_rates.asp to
get the Exchange Rate for Marks & Spencer, before going or to compare with elsewhere.
