  • Just read this in today's paper.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/columnists/5342895/Travel-advice-the-true-cost-of-car-hire.html

I have looked  again at your offer. It looks very attractive.  However, I have never been confident (at all) that I understand what is meant by the term ?fully comprehensive  insurance,? so for the avoidance of doubt would you please clarify the following issues  raised.

1.What is Collision Damage Waiver and  is it included in your basic price? If not, how much extra is it?
2.If CDW is included,  is the driver still liable for damage to some parts of the car- tyres, underneath etc?
3.What is is Excess Waiver? Is it included? If not, how much is it?
4.Does your basic price include any Personal Accident Insurance? If not how much extra?
5.Does your basic price include cover for a second driver?

Finally, how do you compare, like for like, against the price quoted in the article.

Sorry to be so stupid and many thanks.

  • A very good post Falstaff.

    In reply:

    1. Collision Damage Waiver is the amount of money you have to pay in the event of damage being caused to the vehicle. An Excess you have to pay in other words. Most Companies allow you to pay an extra daily amount to bring the Waiver amount lower.
OUR PRICE INCLUDES "FULL" COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVER WITH NO EXCESS

    2. The only way the Driver is liable for damage to the car is if he takes it OFF ROAD  i.e. As if he was on a Jeep Safari. If the vehicle is driven on normal roads, there is NO LIABILITY to any damage.

    3. Excess Waiver is FULLY INCLUDED in the price. It is the amount some Companies make you pay if you damage the car. Our amount is ZERO as standard.

    4. Personal Accident Insurance is INCLUDED, for Driver and Passengers, but only in the event of death. Injuries requiring Hospital Treatment would be covered on a persons Holiday Insurance or Personal Insurance.

    5. A Second and Even Third Driver is FREE of charge, as are CHILD SEATS or CHILD BOOSTER SEATS.

At the moment if you book direct with our Main Office, you can get, for 7 Days, a Peugeot 106 or Citroen C2 for 130 Euros, or one of the new Citroen C1 with CD/Radio and Air Conditioning for 175 Euros. This is of course an ALL INCLUSIVE Price with FULL INSURANCE, NO DEPOSIT and NO INSURANCE EXCESS.

On a cautious note, as per your article link, I noticed recently that when looking at other local Rent A Car Companies, one had an 800 Euro Excess and to bring it down to zero was an additional 22 euros a day ! The other Company stated on the rear of their contract, that if the vehicle was damaged, you had to pay 150 euros and the COST of EVERY DAY the vehicle was off the road until it was repaired (Which could cost you hundreds, if not thousands) !!!!!!

It may sound too good to be true but RENT A CAR SANTIAGO really do offer you ONE LOW PRICE with no hidden extras.

I WANT PEACE OF MIND WHEN I RENT A CAR ON MY HOLIDAYS, THATS WHY MY COMPANY OFFERS IT TO MY CUSTOMERS ON THEIR HOLIDAYS

  • Rented from this Company in May last year and just rented again this week. I had looked around at other Rental Companies las year, but even though most of them said Fully Inclusive Insurance, it DIDN'T include the dreaded CDW, Collision  Damage Waiver, and there were hidden little extras and add ons.

This Company delivers what it promises. Free Child Seats and All Inclusive Insurance without Excess or Deposit. I rent my apartment out and have recommended them to all my clients for hassle free motering.

Plus they are a nice bunch of people.

  • Rambo followed the good advice posted here and has just rented a nice new car for 2 weeks. Unfortunately some little F****R tried to break into it whilst it was parked up Mount Teide way.  :'(  After showing them the damage in the Office, the door lock was trashed and would not open, they changed the car immediately.   :) I then waited for the bad news on the damage, money wise, but was told that as per there advert, there was no charge.  :D I was told All Inclusive Insurance means just that. I´ll be back later in the year, without a doubt. Excellent service.  ;D

  • That does indeed seem like wonderful service.

What a shame that that incident took place. It is a great worry.

  • We have on average a couple of cars a month either broken into, or attempted to be broken into. This is usually when the car is parked up Mount Teide way and left isolated in a pull in, or in the Masca area. We do not have much problem when cars are in car parks, or when they are parked with a lot of other vehicles or in Towns/Villages.

On a positive note, almost ALL the cars had some sort of object or bag ON VIEW inside the car. Very rarely do any of our Vehicles get broken into when there is nothing on show in the car. The simple answer is........... When leaving the Vehicle put ALL items you are not taking with you IN THE BOOT, so they are out of sight !

  • I too must have to say that the service offered by rent a car santiago is second to none, the cars are new and the customer care is far more advanced than many of the bigger companies. Well done Martin

  • I endorse the comments made - we've hired from this company several times with complete satisfaction and as they have an office at the bottom of our road what could be easier ??
