Child's Stair Gate

  • We are having our three young grandchildren to stay at our house in Playa Arena for a week later in January and are looking for a stair gate to buy, hire or borrow. I wonder if anyone is able to point me in the right direction, please?

  • It's difficult to find a stair gate that fits any stair, particularly in Tenerife.  I used a section of plastic, expanding garden trellis available in garden centres and feraterias (Chafiras or Fortuna may have it too), the type that pulls out to interconnecting diamond shapes.  This comes in 1 metre height (when folded) and expands out to 3 metres.  So it's just a bit less than 1 meter high when pulled out to 1 metre width, about right for stairs.  How you fix it will depend on the design of your stairs but you may be able to simply tie it to the banister with a bow, or use velcro.  Hope this helps.
