  • Can we have a change from Arguayo Band at this years Carnaval ? What's happerned to the bands like Malibu, Los Guanches, Caracas and Gomeray ? Have they priced themselves out of the gig ?

  • Today I have heard disturbing news that there are to be no big carnaval queen costumes this year and that on the Friday night only a band will be playing for the Grand Opening Ceremony! Also that the Carnaval Committee has not sufficient money to stage a large carnaval and that even the procession on Sunday could be in jeopardy?

Can anyone out there throw any light on this? After all people should be knowing by now with only a month to go and will want to organise their partys accordingly!

Does anyone out there have the programme yet or is that to be a secret until a couple of days before?

  • Being new to this forum I am a bit confused - are we talking about the main Santa Cruz, Puerto de la Cruz Carnavals, or does Los Gigantes have it?s own like Los Cristianos?

    Thanks.

  • Thanks for getting back - could you let me know whereabouts it is held I?m guessing around the Plaza but as I say just a guess.    I now see it is from 26 Feb to 1st March do you have a programme of events as I would love to come along to either the opening or closing parade.

  • Dolly, as I understand it, you, the PM and Darktarmin are  all members of this years Carnival Committee. Why have you all not pressed for early release of the timetable given that it has been a bone of contention on this website for many years, particularly for visitors.

  • Due to our heavy workload we were unable to continue to be members of this year?s carnaval committee.

I have not received a press release from the Town Hall yet so I called at the tourist information office this morning, and as yet there is no program available.  I will keep you posted.

Chiquita  all events take place in Los Gigantes mainly around the plaza by the church.  The Sunday Grand Parade starts from the Fisherlady roundabout in Puerto Santiago.  Keep an eye on the forum and our "What`s on locally" page.  The programe of events will be posted as soon as it is available.

Thanks for your prompt replies.  I know that was probably not really necessary but I?m just finding my way around the forum, not building post counts. ;D ;D

Now going to try and add a new post ???
