  • Easy enough, spend an hour walking around obtaining a leaflet from all the local hire car Companies. Check the prices and then book with the cheapest. It just happens that the cheapest is British Owned, English speaking staff, Open 7 days a week, the 1st to open in the morning (8.30am), the last to close at night (8.30pm), and on 24 hour emergency call out. What more can I say !!!  ;D

  • That sounds like an excellent service. Probably just right if you need to Rent a Car in Santiago.

Will they be able to provide ghod with a suitable conveyance for his multitudes ??

  • For everyone who recently followed the banter with Billi161 and his numerous questions on numerous subjects, I can now confirm that he DOES in fact exist. Many thought it was a wind up, with all the questions he was asking, but it now seems he was just a Tourist doing homework on the area he was staying in. He did rent a car from Rent A Car Santiago and after speaking to him had taken it all in good humour.  ::)

  • i thought advertising on this site was not allowed unless it's paid for!  Even more worrying is the fact that someone romantically linked with the new owner of this rental car company seems to be doing it on the owners behalf!! We know who you are Psychocat. ;)

  • Eggy, as I understand the rules, local businesses such as bars, restaurants and car hire companies may be recommended by members provided that no direct contact details are given (such as telephone number, email address or website address) unless of course the company recommended  is an advertiser on this website, in which case it is  ok to give such details.  Whatquote s the problem?

Surely its not in our interests to suggest to the owners of the website that they impose restrictions on sharing useful information which we all benefit from.

As a long-time reader and recent member, my observation is that there is no problem - as long as any comments posted about establishments and businesses that ARE advertisers are positive.

However, how often have negative comments, or open discussions about businesses which may contain genuine comments perceived as being potentially critical, been removed for fear of upsetting an advertiser or indeed at the direct request of the advertiser.

Whilst I for one would agree that this is a potentially delicate area, the reality is that you cannot have one rule for advertisers and another for non advertisers if you are looking for genuine debate.  Such debate which would highlight the good and bad points of all, and maybe inspire those failing is certain areas to do better whilst also giving praise where it is rightly due.

    mmmmmmm

  • Yes - have to agree with the last poster - it's that very situation which led to the disappearance of the last forum and the creation of this new one albeit in a much more "don't you dare say anything bad about this, that or other company, cos they may not like it" - although you can report your findings if its advantageous to that particular company (particularly if they advertise on the site !!) - forum seems kinda diluted now somewhat

  • I see that Santiago Rent a Car is now an advertiser on this website (home page, top right) and I assume that contact details can now be given.

  • Friend popped into Santiago Car Hire this week and enquired about an almost three week rental. He was shown the brochure and brochure price; knowing that a deal should be possible, he mentioned this site on a number of occasions remembering that a discount would be offered as it had been mentioned by someone connected with the company, none forthcoming.

It would appear that the girl just went through the motions, not very inspiring.

He went somewhere else in the area and got a great deal, very good service with a smile, and has booked with them.

    SORTED.

Saving will pay for many meals out.

  • A slight breakdown in communication I think is what has happended here. I have spoken to the girls in the Office and as new advertisers on this site, we have not ironed out all the cracks yet, but let me say that if you mention to one of the girls in the office that you saw Rent A Car Santiago advertised on Los Gigantes.com, you are entitled to a 10% discount off of the brochure price. If it is not mentioned to you, then don't be afraid to ask, as it will be given. My apologies to the person concerned, hopefully this will not happen again.

We have a wide selection of cars available from only 147 euro's a week (before discount price) and can offer short or even long term car rental.

For bookings or enquiries you can call us on 0034 922 861006 or click the link symbol on the top right hand side of the Los gigantes.com homepage.
