  • There is a very small butchers shop/ supermarket opposite The Chicken Shack, small street behind Vigilia Park, the meat in there is very good although limited choice, we usually buy our meat from Transito ( Vigilia Park ) or Transito ( San Fransisco ), they have special deals on Wednesdays and Saturdays, all the butchers speak English, the choice is very good and the staff very helpful, with reasonable prices. Hope this is helpful, Royman

  • Facing the sea with the Balcon behind you, turn right.
Walk up the hill until you reach the junction with the main road ner the Post Office.
Look across the road and you will see Vigilia Park.
    Cross the road (carefully).
Go down the road to the right of the Vigilia Park complex (Vigilia Street)
The Transito supermarket is just down here.

It may also help if you have a look at the maps on the website or pick one up from reception after arrival. You will then see that there is a steep set of steps linking the Carretera General (main road) to the road down by the Balcon - which may be slightly quicker than walking up the hill. Most importantly - explore and have fun in the process.

  • and of course transito deliver free if you spend more than 20 euro.  i got some steak earlier this year from the butchers opposite the chick shack, it was quite expensive and we were quite disappointed i'm afraid to say......

  • Pierre, we all know that maps can be incredibly boring but there is a very good map of  Los Gigantes on this website, particularly good for driving.

For more maps look on the left hand side of the home page of this website.

Here is another map which shows many of the establishments mentioned on the message boards.

  • Just interested to know how you go about getting free delivery from Transito - do you go in, pay and ask them to deliver or do you order by telephone?

  • I have them deliver my water in bulk. I go into the store tell them what I want pay for it and give them my telephone number and address. It is as simple as that. The San Francisco store is pretty reliable

  • oh no mr max!  the nearest transito to balcon is up the steps.... and underneath viglia park. they do deliver your shopping though i think you have to spend more than 20 euro for this free service.  anyway, rumours are that balcon will have its own supermarket underneath the building sometime during this winter, and i believe there is a new netto at the mar y blanco complex which could be handy.

  • New supermarket under the Balcon is scheduled to open in Nov but don't think a firm date has been set - think it's going to be Mercadona and Janey is correct a new Netto has opened as well - that'll give the Delfin Supermarket a run for their money - the prices in there are really high !!
