Bullying on this website

  • Hands up who likes a bully  and approves of bullying?  I can only see one hand.

It?s a very cowardly way to behave but  apparently it appears to be quite common, especially on the internet on social networking sites were  deranged individuals take a dislike to someone for no particular reason and make things  so uncomfortable for the victim that they  drive the victim away. It would of course never happen on this website. The management  would never allow it - after all, they are decent people and have high standards to uphold.

But wait a minute. Has any noticed the five week absence of  the most prolific poster this website has ever had?  I?m talking about Janey  who to my recollection  has never posted a nasty comment in all the time she has been a member.  She has posted over 600 constructive messages, mainly about eating establishments. So why does she have  a  curse score of -410 ?  Is there anyone reading this post who thinks that?s warranted (apart from the bully that is)?  Anyone who really  deserved such a score would have been banned   a long time ago. She hasn?t though, she?s just been driven away by a bully.

I?m pretty sure I know who the bully is. It takes a very sad individual to engage in  such a prolonged  hate campaign.

So what is the management of this quality website going to do about the bullying problem and to put right this injustice. It would only take two clicks of a mouse  to do it.  If it were down to me I would have put a stop to it a long time ago.

I recall when bless/curse was first introduced,  George W Bush got into trouble  over a silly joke and was temporarily banned.  I thought it wasn?t fair so in sympathy, I cursed the PM twice and told him so, explaining my reasons. He didn?t like been cursed at all so with two clicks of a mouse the bless/curse system was disabled for all the management members. I wonder how he would have felt  if I had cursed him 410 times and there was nothing he could do to put right such an injustice? Just the way Janey feels now I expect.

Come on Dolly do the right thing. Stop this unacceptable  bullying with two clicks of a mouse.  You know it?s the right thing to do.

  • Yes it always seems on social networking sites there are many people who hide behind silly names and their monitors....and try to intimidate others, very sad

  • wow! thank you falstaff.  and also edward bear who tried (unsuccessfully) several months ago to point out that this bless/curse malarky is rubbish.  a child trying to introduce this 'system' to a school website would be reprimanded immediately and rightly so......

i feel very honoured that you have missed me on the site.

yes, i have stopped contributing, due to the fact that whatever i say, with a (my god is it -410 now?) curse level like mine, which may i add seems to go up daily regardless of any input from me, why would anyone take my comments seriously.  it is quite laughable and pathetic.

its a shame, but i dont bother logging on, or even reading this site anymore. i may do if this bless/curse c**p is removed but until,

    adios.

  • About two years ago, I experienced the same thing, every time I made a comment one individual was very unpleasant and patronising. Consequently I stopped even reading the message board but have to say that after some months of receiving this abuse and one particularly nasty posting from them they were blocked from posting by Dolly Diver and PM. We are all entitled to our opinion and to comment on someone else's but in a constructive and informative way. Because people post under a false name it can be very unsettling as was the case with me. I was very nervous that when I was out and about  this person could potentially be sat next or near to me. It was that intimidating. Thanks for bringing this subject to every ones attention. Bullies Beware.

  • Wow, does this mean i'm not banned anymore !

Maybe the person who introduced this will now reconsider its removal.
If anyone criticised his work or disapproved of anything, he used to throw his dummy out of his pram.
This is one of the reasons I have not been on and many more I presume.

I have noticed that he now has children, so maybe he has grown up enough to admit it was a mistake after all and dis continue the idea.
He would probably noticed an increase on this site, with people starting to return.

    We all make mistakes !

I agree with the please don't stop posting on here Janey. If it hadn't been for your very helpful response to one of my posts last year, I wouldn't have had such a perfect birthday meal at La Pergola.  Back out again this year and my birthday yet again falls within our hols - we're already planning to spend my birthday at the same place.  It would be such a shame to lose a person on this site I've always found to be very helpful.

  • Hi All I think you will find the bless curse has gone. I have been asking for it to go for some time, but was told it was going to be difficult, well I think I have found the setting myself and it's hopfully gone now.

I haven?t been on the forum for a while and logging on today this is the first post I see.  I have suffered similar abuse since 2008 on another forum I use, well in fact the person stalks me from one forum to another.  They even send people PMs saying what a bad person I am - unfortunately they were caught red-handed last time as the person they chose to write to was horrified by the content and reported it to the forum administrators, so for the moment they are being careful.  Not sure how long it will last,  however the worst thing you can do is give them the satisfaction of packing up and moving on.   Stick with it Janey, as you can see you have friends who appreciate your input - these are the ones to concentrate on not the sicko who needs to get a life.

  • A big thank you to Dolly and the PM.  I know  from what Dolly said some time ago that it was on the ?to do? list.   I'm sure it took quite some time to fathom out how to disable it.  Many thanks.

  • May i add my ''blessing'' to the administrators of this site for the correction of a poorly judged error.
The bless/curse travesty had stopped good people from posting on this forum.

    Welcome back Janey.
