  • You have made a valid point.

The other is the price of a pint in that area and LG.

It all seems to be an average of 3?

I mention this because on a P&O Cruise ship it was the same price.

In fact you could pick up a Cruise for the sort of outlay you are on about.

  • Price for the Barcelo half board ?1650 each and as we go AI it was ?14 each per day. No meals or drinks on flight ?12 to book sitting together 15kg luggage. We then looked at Dominican Republic because we went there last summer well  Hotel- Riu Mambo-Premium seats on flight (choice of seats meals drinks throughout the 9 hours flight 30kgs Luggage allowance)and Hotel in Gatwick and 15nights parking ?1350.  Is there any choice? Total for Tenerife ?1930 against ?1359 which would you pick. ?600+ difference.

This ?600 has almost paid for half of the Tenerife holiday we have booked for next May in our beloved Barcel Santiago.
    Your comments please  :)

no problem in choosing! los gigantes every time!  been to dominican and once was enough! sorry but you have to pay for quality - dominican is cheap cos its not everybodys cup of tea, they have to make the money when they can!

  • Dominican can be cheap oh yeah but depends on hotel and region.

the money in my bank account is the most important.

When we went DR last year we were treated like a king and queen like in the Barcelo.  Air con same entertainment very proffessional not cheap and tacky- free optics and beer in fridge you do not have to pay. Fab entertainment during the day not hastled into joining in. Also no friends (roaches) in rooms

The list can go on we like the Barcelo because we are treated by the staff like king and queen,  We like the relaxed way we can be.  We come away for a chilling holiday sitting in the pool bar having a drink (coffee) all day ==a stroll to Gos Gigantes or Playa de la Arena looking out for our friend Ron who lives there.  Lots of reasons we are going to try Tenerife again.  If the Barcelo isnt up to scratch we will go somewhere else  maybe Playa de la Arena hotel.

  • We have been coming to LG for the last 5 years, as  a family and absolutely love the area! Please do not open lots of night clubs, like other areas of Tenerife, it encourages lager louts and vile behaviour. I have always like LG because it is a safe area to take children out with you and it has always been a very welcoming place to visit. The lack of tourists maybe due to the credit crunch!! Everyone is feeling the pinch at the moment. Let's hope next year is a better year for the tourists. Please don't change the sand,  black sand is part of the Islands character!

  • Problem I've noticed is there's nowhere to park in Los Gigantes, especially down towards the harbour. Cars just drive aimlessly round the one way system and give up. Why not turn the lido into a car park and redevelop the harbour area? Or alterntively use the sports club site. Los Gigantes could be a good trip point if only there was somewhere to park.

  • There is usually plenty of spaces on the side streets or Crab Island but people don't want to walk more than 50 yards!!!!!

  • Tolkien.
There are plans to build a 300 spaces car park on the area behind the lido.  However, if and when this will happen is anybody's guess.

  • Building a car park is not always the problem........ its getting the bloody thing to open that can be the problem, hence Santiago !!!!!!!  :'(
