The following email was sent to the office

Dear client,

Thanks to feedback from some of our clients, it has recently come to our attention that Telef'f3nica (National Operator) telesales staff are cleverly picking on foreign residents in Spain as an easy target for intimidation.  Clients have contacted us to let us know that they have been threatened by Telef'f3nica to either cancel their service with Direct Telecom or else they would have their phone line removed!  Additionally, it seems that they have also promised free unlimited calls to the UK and unsustainably low rates to mobiles if they agree to go ahead with the cancellation. Obviously, not only is it illegal for them to cancel your phone line (as long as you pay their bills), but these promises are without foundation and are designed to make you run up a huge bill with them.

At Direct Telecom we feel it is our duty to inform you of this, and we encourage you to contact us if you have been approached, or should you have any further queries.

 Kind regards,

 Your Direct Telecom team.

I've never found Telefonica anything but helpful.

All their "deals" are listed on their website.
