  • Hi, can anyone tell me if you can hire battery powered wheelchair/scooters in Tenerife area???

We will be coming over in July and don't know whether to bring my mam's over with us or if we can hire one for the duration of our stay.

    Any advice????

  • Hi Julie, I have seen such a place I think it was in Los Christianos. I dont think I have ever seen a wheelchair in Los Gigantes, let alone a battery powered one. I dont think the hills or the footpaths are particularly suited around Los G. Where are you headed for?

  • There's a company based in Los Cristianos called Orange Badge. Have sent you an email with their details.

  • Thank you both so much, will contact :D them and see what they have, just that some of the banks around Los Gigantes and Arena area will be abit steep for her.

    Thanx again, it's much appreciated.

  • You are most welcome. If I see a wheelchair heading down heart attack hill at 90 mph I will know its your mum!  ;)

Seriously though, get a folding one and use the taxis. ;D

  • Orange badge are great, they are really helpful, hire prices are reasonable and they have lots of choice but I would not fancy that hill on anything I can't control!

  • Hi there,

There is also another place in Los Cristianos that hire scooter/wheelchairs etc.. they are called Act!ve mobility, they are situated in the Centro Comercial Apolo, on the lower floor, I know of a few residents that have used this company so rates must be pretty good.

  • In November I saw a wheel chair with occupant being pushed up cardiac hill. It must have been battery powered as was going at a fair speed . So it can be done :) :) Good luck Julie. It will keep you fit anyway.

  • What about the Lions in LG they had an electric one they hired out. Worth a try and save you the trip the Los Christianos too. Also the Pharmacies hire out wheelchairs, quite reasonable the one in Tamaimo is cheaper then the one in Puerto Santiago. Don't know whether they have any electric ones though.
