  • Does anyone know of or have a 2 bedroom apt in Tamara to rent for any 2 weeks in February please? I know it's short notice but I live in hope, just two people, 59 & 60, can't manage the hills anymore but Tamara will suit me fine for 2 weeks.

  • Hi Sue
You don't happen to work for the Canarian Tourist Authority do you?
    Just checking.

  • No, I'm a genuine tourist, I've been posting on this site a few years too, we have been staying up in Hibisco 2 the last 4 or 5 years, twice a year, but now I have a hip problem and can't manage the steps -sooo many for the daily supermarket trip- or the steep slope to avoid the steps. We know Tamara well because we used to stay there when our boys were children, moved to cheaper apartment when we no longer needed to be near the beach, or need a pool, so I know I can manage the walking from Tamara to the restaurants. In one way it's nice that everything is booked up, mean's the village is still thriving, but I did hope we might find just one available.

    Still hoping,

    Sue.

  • hello,
have you searched under Cornisa as well, which are the partner apartments at the end of Tamara, but still on the level?

btw. this is a good example of the potential problem area of the new legal/"illegal" renting situation. I believe that a strong implemenation of the law will have a detrimental effect on all of LG's businesses, and think this thread highlights perfectly the short-sighted nature of the restrictions.

  • you may struggle, on the post below on 08 Jan 2011 "Orange" posted a list apartments with Touristic Licence in Santiago del Teide which, as I understand it, are the only apartements where holiday lets are allowed, Tamara isn't on that list thus I presume that means that it is a residential complex and as such shouldn't be let out for holidays.  It appears that choice is going to be restricted in future

If I've misunderstood perhaps someone will put me right.

  • Hi Cold and Tired!
Regardless of the previous post re. legislation relating to letting, I would click onto the property to rent link on the home page for this site.
Click onto all accommodation and you will find a few two bed apartments on Tamara.  We have just got back two weeks ago and stayed in a fantastic apartment on the front row at Tamara which would be ideal given your difficulties.
    Good luck

  • Good for you!  We love staying at Tamara as it's lovely and central with fantastic views.  We're back there in August as per usual - hope you have a fantastic time in March.

  • When the tourist inspector comes knocking make sure you have all the information about the owner and your close relationship with them at hand.

I have just read on another forum that if an owner on an unofficial letting community lets a property, and the community is aware that they are doing so, the community could be fined for being complicit in the act, in addition to the owner themselves. Worrying eh?
