  • Personally I think the holiday companies are to blame.
We usually go to the Barcelo AI every other Christmas for 2 weeks taking in Xmas and New Year.  Decided last year and this to stay at home but on checking prices for next year 2008/2009 we can go caribean--goa--brazil--and others for cheaper costs than to the canaries and these are all AI.
Therefore I think for our pounds as much as we love LG area should we see a bit more of the world which every year travel wise gets smaller.

  • Fine Tasha you go to these places where there are loads of creepy crawlies and creatures that bite lumps out of you. That is without mentioning hygiene. Los Gigantes =  no horrids.

  • No i disagree

I have been to Mexico last year and Dominican Republic this year and have not been bitten once (I am usually a full buffet) this is the result of taking Vitamin B1 for 4 weeks before i travel and while I am there. Hygene in the Riu Mambo in DR you get a splodge of hand anti bacteria everytime you use the loo or go in to meals to avoid the spread of any nasty tummy upsets. and we didnt get any.
Also We saw no creepy crawlies as the rooms are sprayed every couple of days. Unlike an appartment we rented opposite the chinese restaurant in LG which was alive with cockroaches. That is why we stay ar the Barcelo no roaches there!!
On saying that my heart belongs to LG.

  • Hola Glen Scotland ! I hope youve got a fur lined kilt ! dont want you getting the wee willies !!!! ;D

I cant wait to get back on home turf, see the friends and family for Christmas ! I hate Christmas here, like new year though ! thats better here in Tenerife !

Ive got tickets for 79 euros return, 18 days on skyscanner.com

I think What everyone else is saying is right though ! Why come to Tenerife if you can go to the Carribean for the same price !!!

Maybe the Cabildo de Tenerife should have talks with the tourism board, airlines regarding Canaries flight prices ???

    What say all of you ????? ??? ??? ???

  • Evening Folks,

Just returned back to dear old blighty after spending a wonderful week in Gran Canaria and might I add that we only spotted two wee beasties in seven days.  However my 4 year old caught a terrible tummy bug and was vomiting blood, after three hours being sick on the plane coming back home. Hubby and then yours truly eventually caught it too.

My point is that we usually stay at Las Rosas - which we have been doing for many, many years and we have never had any trouble feeding our son in LG, who is allergic to many things. So the grass isn't always greener as they say.

We love LG but hate the over-the-top prices that all the airlines charge.
Nikki GQ is right about getting a good deal but only if you fly from Tenerife to England and not the other way round which is no good for us holiday makers.

Congrats to Nikki on her good news ;)
