  • janey - without taking the pip, there has never been a more risky time in renting property as a non touristic registered activity or outside the rules of a touristic registered activity.

Without the technology and co-operation between all the agencies from different countries today - a physical inspection, caught in the act visit would be needed, but not any more.

magsmike - this is now clearly taken as a black economy issue, after years of being green and turning grey...

  • What will happen if someone has booked accommodation unaware of all of the above???

Fairly obvious I would have thought ...

If you book and pay well in advance you stand a risk of the owner being sanctioned in the period between.  Whether the sanctioned owner returns your payment will be the risk you take.

Worse still you could turn up at the door of your rented apartment only to find you can't get in.

Both of the above are obviously worst case scenarios of course, but if you dabble in what is now becomming a black market there are risks.
