A blustery weekend

  • News for those of you living in the Uk.
Gale force winds have battered Los Gigantes this weekend.  More wind is forecast for today but at the moment it is nice and calm. The winds were blowing in from the African coast, bringing with them massive clouds of dust from the Saharan Desert.  Los Gigantes was not too badly damaged, patio furniture was thrown around, signs blown down etc, but El Hierro, our neighbouring island was badly effected. Weather stations recorded 120km wind strength and guests staying in the Pozo de la Salud were evacuated.

Now everyone is faced with a massive clean up as everywhere is thick with dust ? at least the wind was warm!!

  • Crikey Dolly - I'm coming out this Friday to recover my patio table and chairs.  How far do you think they may have blown ? - Alcala or as far as Playa San Juan ??  :-\\
I wanted to be the Cincinnati Kid - but couldn't spell it

  • Hello losgiganteskid,
Your patio furniture won't have gone as far as San Juan. Try looking in Masca or even Punta Teno 'cause the wind was mostly SSW, 70 km !!
Amasingly Playa Arena beach had the 'green flag' throughout.
