I know we are only in April but can anyone recommend a good resturant that does a great christmas lunch. Is it advised that we book as we are coming out on the 24th Dec.

Does El Mesons do anything. Also what about down but the habour, or the harbour club. Any suggestions would be welcome.

We are staying in puerto santiago but will be happy to get a taxi anywhere, thats if the taxi firms opertate on christmas day.

    Many thanks

It is mostly set menus in English Restaurants and expensive. Pilgrims, Wine Bar and El Meson did these last Christmas, but you do have to book

The Harbour Club does a traditional carvery but it is in the evening and booking is essential.

Various places do Christmas Lunch but be prepared. We paid 80 Euros last year. We too are going out on the 24th but will get in some where without booking. Many places do not accept bookings so far in front. Some only take numbers maybe 2 days before. Taxis do operate over Christmas but not as many as usual but if you are stopping at PS everywhere is within easy walking distance. I you need anymore info, please email me privately

i would never hesitate in recommending el meson, its fantastic, but unfortunately the only bad meal (out of many!) that ive had there was at new years eve, fully booked up, and i have to admit domingo didnt cope well at all, the food was ok, but the service wasnt great. its a shame to report this because normally the restaurant is excellent. i would still recommend you gave it a go though!

after reading comments on El Meson I went. the food was nice but personally I wouldn't go again, I like friendly staff but I found the staff "over familiar" and the "silly jokes" they play on people really aren't funny, one waiter obviously agreed as he was only going through the motions when presenting a large serving sppon with the soup or reams of till roll with the bill. To those who love it great.

Our family go to LG every christmas and new year plus an extra week, (yes i know, lucky sods), this will be our 6th year christmas out there. We don't eat out on Christmas eve as we found it was a total rip off and considering what a wonderful cook I am, we just go and get a couple of hot chickens, and I make all the other bits and pieces to go with it. We have a good ole drink before heading out for the evening. I do understand that lots of people want to get away from cooking on holiday but that's what we do on new years eve as well as to be honest, who can afford 80 euros ahead, even more in some places, i would begrudge it!

You get them right opposite the chicken shack. It's always best to go an order them and give a time when you will pick them up, that way they make sure they are nice and hot for you. I think they are '805.50 per chicken but very nice. They do a lovely pork chop in there as well!

  • Can we get real about this topic.

If you want a traditional Christmas including a lunch what on earth are you doing in Tenerife anyway?

It makes me quite angry that you are prepared to travel 1700 miles south and still hanker after what you have left alone.

Please get real. This is the sort of thing that gives Los Gigantes and Tenerife a bad name.

  • Cafe Arena in Playa de la Arena is doing a good Xmas lunch, traditional fayre and crackers! I enjoy a good breakfast there, but xmas lunch for me will be a picnic on the beach with the family!
