  •  :D Im a frequent visitor to Los Gig and have just returned from a very enjoyable 3 month holiday. My friends and I spent most of our time in the Spanish owned bars and restaurants (pick and choose as some are deffinitely better than others). However we also returned to the 'very' friendly dolphin and were glad to see that Chris and Alan were still there (hi if you're reading this). Still very good food and service and the best tapas place we have eaten in so far. Keep up the good work on the beer Alan, glad to see you're one of the very few who knows how to 'clean the pumps', Chris (aka Mrs Kipling) your cakes and tapas are deffinitely the best myself and others have tasted.
Would just like to say that the bar next door (not Moniques) should think of health & safety a bit more as when I was there, the toilets were blocked and sewage was on the floor. A plumber was fixing it but the staff were still serving food and drink!!!

  •  :'( :'(I have heard that Alan and Chris have sold The Friendly Dolphin and will be returning to the UK in the New Year. I wish them well but they will be sadly missed. I hope that the new people are just as friendly and obliging with the same quality of food.

  • I remember now about the lettuce! Hope you are both well. Yes, it's true! We are coming back for Xmas and New Year, but returning early January to hand over the bar to the new owners. We will be staying on for a while to help the new owners settle in.
The new owners are Gemma and Mark, a lovely young couple who are carrying on with the menu, but also have some ideas of their own, have put my name down as a taster!!!
Many, many, many thanks to you and all our other customers over the last 4 years for supporting us. We have had a very interesting and enjoyable time, but all good things come to an end.
Merry, Merry Christmas to everyone, a Prosperous New Year, and thanks again.  :) :) :) :-* :-* :-*

  • A lot better today thanks! But not quite up to the magnificent full english breakfast that I enjoyed  :) I felt really sorry for her, but a mans gotta eat.  ::)
She did enjoy her scone though, as I did yesterday along with the sample of chocolate fudge cake. Mrs Kipling does indeed make exceedingly good cakes...you and Alan will be a great loss to LG. I do wish the new owners well though and will call in to see them in March.

  • Firstly would like to say all the best to them both in the Uk.  Secondly, referring to Elliejay'b4s comment on 'b4the bar next door'b4.... Yes, there were problems there, caused by blockages in the main pipes which takes a sharp corner under that bar, blockages mainly caused by other bars putting too much down the pan.  This said bar has now had these problems resolved and undergone refurbishment  ;D
