There is another side of this that I feel I must point out. Those who feel Los Gigantes is a nothing place must go round with their eyes shut. There is plenty to do, and something for everyone. As everyone knows I am a diver and divers and their families specifically come to Los Gigantes for the diving. The water is sub tropical, the underwater rock formations are superb and the fish life is amazing.
Whilst divers are out on dives families always seem to find something to do. Beach, pool, dolphin/whale trips, etc. and in the evenings they are always advised of the best places to go in this area. Some want entertainment, some a quiet romantic meal, others a lively night and I donquote t care how some of you pull the place apart there IS something for everyone and the proof is that divers come back to Los Gigantes time and time again, over 50% of business is repeat business. (Night life and restaurants are based on the area covered from Los Gigantes to El Varadero). Donquote t take my word for it just look at the boats going out. I have talked to many divers who have ended up staying in Las Americas and they drive to Los Gigantes for the diving and wished they had been staying in this area.
There is something else too. I have lived here for almost 17yrs. Moved away for a few months and was glad to be back, there is nowhere else I would rather live. Social life is really good and there is no shortage of things to do, the biggest problem is not enough hours in the day to fit everything in. As moderator I have to read all your moans and groans about the place. Those of you who always moan should not be living here!
Yes this area is quiet at the moment but speaking to friends in business in Las Americas and in Puerto De La Cruz it is the same there, business is down, so it isnquote t just in this area.
Ok Iquote ll get down from my soap box now. No doubt I will have opened up a hornets nest now!
