Special Dinner Reccomendation

  • Hi,

My Girlfriend and I will be going to Los Gigantes on 23rd February (not long now!!!)  ;) ;D  And I would like to know what people think would be the best resteraunt for a really special dinner on the Saturday night?  (It's her birthday, so would like somewhere really good)

We would prefer local food, and fish is a favourite of both of us.

    Any advice greatly appreciated  :)

    Rob

  • Hi CS and thanks for the reply,

We will be staying at the Barcelo Varadero, walking or a taxi is fine, obviously a nice little walk would be nice but the main consideration would be quality of food.

  • Hello Rob,
For something a little special where cost is not too important I would suggest Mistingett, Miranda's, Rincon Juan Carlos or The San Francisco Beach Club.
Any ot these restaurants will ensure that you have a very happy evening. Would suggest you booked in advance and explained what the special occasion is.

  • How about Casa Pedro for a nice fish meal ?
Food at Mistinguett has always been good if a little pricey and not much of a Spanish atmosphere.

Not sure which other recently recommended 'posh' restaurants are still in business !

    Enjoy !

  • Snowdon,
Was probably Las Goteras in Tejina de Guia. Very Spanish and excellent food.

  • I would also recommend the new fish place El Barco De Nino (just along from the Barcelo Santiago Hotel) beautiful setting and the fish is fantastic  and my other fave is El Rincon de Juan Carlos in Los Gigantes - I would say decor wise these two are probably the best - the other recommendations are not as 'plush' as these two (in my opinion). Probably set you back about 100 euros - depending on what wine/aperetifs/liqueurs you have etc etc.

  • For her birthday I took my lady to Juan Carlos (down the alleyway at the side of Miranda's). Had a superb meal. I got Maria to order flowers - what a fabulous bouquet! Cost 20-25 euros but worth every centimo.

For her birthday my lady's daughter wouldn't go anywhere other than Sissi's (above Transito at San Francisco). Different sort of menu than Juan Carlos but equally as good and less expensive.

    Have a great night!!

  • I agree with maps and tlg - both well worth it for a special occasion but would choiose barco de nino if the setting was particularly important, go and have a look when you get there and you will see for yourself
