Pilgrims in Playa de la Arena

  • Is it really true that Pilgrims has closed for good, does anyone know? If so, I wonder why? We always enjoyed their straighforward bar meals - the fish and chips were particularly good - and the prices weren't bad either. Service was cheerful and quick. It was a pleasant place to sit and watch the world go by, and frequented by sports fans, mostly for the football but also F1, etc.

    It will be missed.

  • I don't know the answer however an educated guess is that it is greedy landlords again. It will be well missed for meals ,drinks and sports.
I guess that some landlords do not realise that that times are to say the least difficult.

  • Sad and disappointing news if true, Pilgrims has always been a great venue to watch the football when we were out.
All best wishes to Stuart and his staff whatever happens.

  • Has the closure of Pilgrims been confirmed?? This is a real shame and a huge loss to the area. Football fans from a multitude of clubs mixing together and not a hint of trouble. A fair bit of banter from the Spurs contingent though!
Not sure where we'll go now?

  • Although I enjoy fish, goat, rabbit and other Tenerife favourites, now and then I hanker after cod and chips. It had become a tradition amongst our family and friends to have a late fish and chip lunch at Pilgrims on our way home to the UK.

Now that Pilgrims has gone, can anyone recommend another place in the LG area that does good cod and chips, please?

  • I'm informed that Stuart was asked to pay more rent and in return offered to buy the locale but the owner asked a very high price indeed, so Stuart has decided to pull out and head for England for the time being.

So sorry to see such a useful, friendly, good value place close down after all the hard work of Stu and team. They will be sadly missed.
