  • Can anyone tell me if the new restaurant has opened yet in the Harbour Club.

If not, any ideas when it will be?

Thanks for that - I knew Adam was opening up etc. as out there recently and had hoped to be there for the opening.

Has anyone been yet?  Like to hear what it's like.  Whilst we were out we watched the tilers doing a good job on the premises and also watched the furniture being delivered and it looked quite nice.

    Any reviews appreciated!  :)

i refer you to a happily (after last weekends debacle) amended version of my previous post on this subject

I am thinking of leasing the bar outside and calling it the 31 bar.   It will be then be re-named the 32 bar on the 11th March*.

    * only joking Adam if you're reading this.

  • They are not doing the carvery anymore.  The Sports Centre do a Sunday Roast, and Arches do a carvery on Thursday and Sundays, both are very good.

  • the owners of this restaurant are not interested in comments for good or bad and have asked us to remove them

This ''asked us to remove them'', or 'the bar that doesn't want to be named' stuff confuses me.... If a bar/restaurant provides good service then how on earth are people going to spread the word. Likewise if you have a poor meal then you may wish to tell others. Except in Los Gigantes it seems? Name and Shame... if people who run restaurants and bars can't take criticism then they are in the wrong business.

Can any one explain why this site has this policy?

  • The owners of the the establishement (s) concerned specifically requested in person to the owner of the site that no mention of their restaurant be made, good or bad, unfortunately the most effecient way to do that is to have the software automatically edit the word out, which is why ione ends up with slightly tortured sentances! Take it up with the owners of the establishmnet its "their" policy not the board's

  • Hi GiGi.. I understand what you say but why does the board just accept and comply with the request of the establishment?.... Do they own the board??... If (for example) a Car Rental company was using potentially dangerous cars and someone tried to use this medium to warn people ; do you really mean that the company could come along and say '' We don't want you to mention us in a good or bad way'' and the board would oblige??

I appreciate that some people with an axe to grind may denigrate a particular establishment for one reason or another and I do  not condone that at all but if you do not allow unbiased opinions to be expressed then this board is all the poorer for it.

I am not a stranger to Los Gigantes but if I were and was trying to find balanced opinions on where to eat etc on a forthcoming holiday I would find it very odd that there are these places that ''one cannot name''

  • I do take your point Tolstoi, but as a (soon to be) ex employee its hard for me to go against policy. This is a small community and sometimes there are "wheels within wheels" that are not allways immediately obvious, as I said I would be more interested in asking the owners concerned why the requested the "black out" in the first place.

By the way the weather is a bit nicer today to whoever was asking on the other thread

  • LG is not one of the worlds best places for food im sure we all agree, but we all seem to find places we like to go for atmosphere and food. i too love las brasas good honest food great atmosphere lovely staff and not at all expensive. being ripped off at flashy places with rude staff is a no no i wouldnt even bother looking at 1976 if i were you.

  • Having tried this restaurant on a very recent visit to LG I feel I must comment on our experience.Staff very friendly on arrival but once they take your order they dont want to know.Food that was advertised in the promotional literature was not available eg Jacket spuds ,not a huge problem but the alternative was some sort of potato stack that looked as though it had been made out of jacket spuds!!!.We also had problems with the food being undercooked ,we sent it back but it returned still undercooked and what was ok had of course gone cold. The wine list is described as extensive, Hmmm!!We tried to pay by card but not accepted, when we commented that nowhere did it say this, the stunning reply was "nowhere does it say we do"We wont be returning.Like others on the site Las Brasas and Fettuccines are hard to beat for quality of food and service with a smile no matter how busy they are.

Don't go down that road Tolsti - it was the reason why the very popular and informative previous LG  forum was culled and buried - too many establishments in and around LG not wanting to be criticized either one way or the other.

I wanted to be the Cincinnati Kid - but couldn't spell it

  • Don't worry LosKid.... I lived long enough in Los Gigantes and the surrounding area to be well aware of the cartels and cliques that exist. In a way it is almost a reflection of the local Canarian family dominances....however a ''falta dos cojones'' will continue to allow this situation to exist unless.............
