New Car Park in Puerto Santiago

  • Has the Car Park complex in Puerto Santiago been completed yet? Last time we visited in December it looked as if it would be quite a while. If it has, is it anything like the planned drawings that were on show which appeared to have  a cafeteria and childrens play area?

  • Yes it's completed Annie.
Childrens play area has turned into something of an alton Towers, the cafeteria looks like something out of the future, but the best thing is the Botanical gardens & parakeets & butterflies & humming birds& not a MUSLIM in sight.
    Sorry winding you up.
    But we can all dream.
    Politically INCORRECT or what.

  • Blue - what a clever man you are that you can ascertain everyone's religion by the way they look - oh sorry no just one religion!  Can certainly tell what religion you are - racist/small minded.

  •  ;)So how about that for pre judging not all men are racist sexist or anything elseist nor are all names male or female now who's being small minded.

RE PC It would be wrong to say all Muslims are terrorists but at present over the last 2 years all terrorists in the uk have been Muslims.

My creed; live and let live, and please let me live and believe the things I want.

On a separate note if the owners of this site would like an independent view of restaurants night life and the rest, (dib, dib, dib hand on heart no axe to grind, not looking for freebies or favors please contact me. As me-self and Dorris could be interested.

Iquote ll leave the rest of you to wonder who the devil (sorry not pc the person who allegedly comes from the hot place down below),we are!

  • Once upon a time we  had the concept of racial hatred, which we all understand and all decent people deplore.  But then the word  ldblquote racistdblquote  came along to confuse us.  What on earth does it mean? As far as I understand it, it  is just a term of abuse- a modern day swear word. It is bandied about by  people who cannot put together a logical argument about why someone's conduct is unacceptable. Far easier to just to insult someone by calling them ldblquote racistdblquote .  It's rather similar to being labelled a ldblquote Witchdblquote  in times gone bye.

With all due respect to Hibisco Lass, someone who is disparaging towards Muslims cannot be termed ldblquote racistdblquote  because Islam like Christianity is a religion, not a race. You would never describe an individual or an organisation (such as the BBC)  which  disapproves of  aspects of Christianity  as ldblquote racistdblquote  now would you ?

  • you are right Falstaff, 'racist' is indeed the wrong term if I was actually referring to religion, but as Blue can identify a muslim by seeing them (as he says 'not a muslim in sight') he is in truth not referring to people's religion at all but to their ethnicity ... which is my point ... isn't he/she clever to be able to do such a thing ... to see someone and know whether they are a muslim/non muslim?
Perhaps blue could enlighten us as to whether he/she is a man or a woman.  If s/he is a woman then I hold my hand up, to being wrong in my assumption that a man wrote the email. but the same comment applies if it was a woman.

  • I think the word you are looking for is, ldblquote Islamaphobiadblquote - another new word from the politically correct lobby. It is an irrational fear of Muslims.  I regret to say that my own son is a sufferer.  Having spent six months in Iraq, hequote d somehow got it into his head that they were all trying to kill him.

  • Hibisco las you took your time to answer I was expecting an onslaught long before Aug 13th.
Racist you say well you are indeed entitled to your opinion, you don't know me & "never the twain shall meet".
As far as I'm aware I have still got a tongue in my head & fingers to write with so i'll say or write (within reason Dolly) what I want.
So far I have not had the Politically Correct brigade like yourself or the Human Rights one battering at my door.
Sticks & stones name calling whatever.
To be honest I care not a jot what you think of me it's just not in my nature.
So say what you will as I have done.
Thankyou Linda for your kind words, one cook is not going to spoil my broth.
As for my gender, what difference does it make, unless you are against men because you did assume it was a man that wrote it.
Is that racist or bigotted?Falstaff over to you young man.

  • Blue I take my hat off to you for saying what you feel. Nowadays the loudest voice out there seems to come from the namby pamby, liberal, limp wristed, poltically correct human rights brigade. You are certainly not a racist and I don't believe you suffer from "Islamaphobia" either. What you are my friend is a realist. The people who believe that a man who sets out to maim or kill deserves "human rights" is as dangerous as the terrorist himself.  :)

  • Well, I was quite surprised when  Hibisco Lass questioned Bluequote s ability to identify Muslims by their dress, because their faith lays down a quite distinctive religious dress code, so it is quite easy to identify both male and female Muslims by their clothing.

That dress code, particularly for women has been the source of much political debate in the UK in recent years and there have been appeals by prominent mainstream politicians, including Jack Straw, for them to be seen to be integrating by wearing western dress.

For those of you interested in finding out more about Islamic issues (such as the new car park in Puerto Santiago) I would recommend having a look at the excellent Aljazeera news website:-

    http://english.aljazeera.net/English

Hibisco Lassquote s misconception that Blue was a man, together with her rebuke, was rather ldblquote sexistdblquote  in that it implied a ldblquote racistdblquote  tendency on the part of us men. But Iquote m over it now.

  • Well said petermann, it is about time that we got back on topic. It is meanderings like this that gives this site a bad name.

We have had a period of sanity, with Sebastian in his hole avoiding Hurricane Dean, I presume, that this particular topic has run its time.

  • I never thought when I asked an innocent question about a car park back in July that it would lead to such a controversial discussion. Must say that the topics and comments raised  have made very good reading. Far more interesting than car parks I think ;D ;D
