Hello Los Gigantes,
We have just arrived back after 10 sunny days there. Glenn (and Margi), the owners of Bar La Amazona have been my best friend since nearly 30 years ago, I am pleased to see that my friend is doing well with his BBQ food. I will also comment on ther restaurants that we visited, so that i am not just preaching for my best friends business.
WE tried the BBQ 3 times, the Spare ribs are fantastic, wish i knew how they get that flavor, also the Tandoori chicken skewers were selling like hotcakes, sold out 2 nights running. If you have not been, please take a look, if you get there, they will pay your taxi back within the local area, varadero to los gigs,
WE also ate in the Tipsy bar, in the sports club in Los Gigs, friendly staff and good english food tastes, not as cheap as we expected, but they have spent a lot of money getting ready to open, so guess they need to recover some of this during each year, fair enough think us.
We also booked for a meal in the new hotel Palacio de Isora, in Alcala, what a fantastic hotel, brand new and 5 star quality. We opted for the 25 euro buffet, but its much more than a buffet, 5 chefs cooking when you order from meat, fish , pastas and deserts, wow, each as much as you like. Highly recommend it but the wine expensive and not sure we could afford to stay there, bit like the Abama I think.
The only other pleace we went to eat was in Krisnas Indian restaurant in Los Gigs, the food was excellent, a full indian menu and my vindaloo certainlt bit back in the morning !!! just how i like it. Reasonably prices as well.
Well, that my update other than to say. please visit LA AMAZONA and try the BBQ, its cheap, great quality and friendly service in beautiful surroundings, the perfect location to chill out.
We wont be back until October, so we hope that things pick up a bit and that the recesion does not affect too many businesses.
