  • thank you everyone for your opinions i will try to try all the recomendations during my stay
:)what i cannot understand is why people on holiday complain about a wait for there food , your sat there with a bottle of wine waiting for it to be cooked if it takes a while have another bottle and chill ,so long as the food is good when it arrives thats what matters if the meal takes all night so be it
alternativly there is a good macdonalds in las americas 2 minutes max >:(

  • back to the original post, we have had the 8:10 special at San Fransisco numerous times, the value is unbelievable so I am sorry to report that it is no longer available, one good thing about that though is that it makes you look at the menu and try something else, we've never been disappointed there

  • Anyone got any news re. SISSIS closure? I ate there several times in Dec and enjoyed every meal! Best restaurant in the area. Well worth a 5 minute taxi ride. If it does close it will be because of the location not the food, service or value.

    there we are then

  • fishermans inn is in a great spot!!!  if whomever gets that does decent food (unlike last couple) it could be a goldmine! especially now the walk way is complete and the harbour has been done up.  i would go there, i went once before, a scottish couple had it and the food was so boring and basically awful, we never went back!!  it would make a lovely early doors tapas bar!!
Charlotte and Russell have taken over the Fishermans the food is excellent, Charlotte is the chef she knows how to cook fish. Russell does the waiting, bar and everything else, so he struggles a little in the busy times. I wish them well and will continue to eat there often.

i did go back, only had drinks ( it was a decent glass of white wine too for a change), it was busy with people eating, the new couple seemed very nice.  i will pop in for lunch in the next couple of weeks!

  • Janey, its difficult to understand how a new member to this board could have developed such a deep dislike of another member in such a short space of time. But havenquote t we been here before?  Whenever strong personal attacks are made by a new member, I am always curious about which longstanding member with come in to put the boot in.

  • Blue, we all see messages which get under our skin. The best thing is to ignore them or respond with  humour.

Well I have achieved my 100th post at last (a meagre contribution in quantity and quality when compared with yours Blue).

Looking out for my telegram from the Queen.

Agreed about the posts that aggravate, you really do need a thick skin sometimes for message boards. Funny how some people can be so aggressive when they write and yet if you were to meet them face to face they wouldnt say boo to a goose. Dont dissapear for too long Blue!

  • Barco de Nino is very stylish with great views, I found the food very good and will return, but maybe for a special occasion rather than a regular, as I did find it a bit expensive, but if you are on holiday and fancy a treat try Jessies fish restaurant on the seafront in LG it is very reasonable and the fish is fresh and tasty and with great sea views too, so if you like seafood there are restaurants that have good menus, I have heard also that El Pescadore in LG is good too, though I have never eaten there. To anyone visiting LG and the area I would recommend eating in places like these mentioned, and also the Canarian/Spanish restaurants as they do seem cheaper and better quality than the many UK owned establishments that are all fighting for survival to the point of being extortionate, do plan in advance and check all the prices first.

  • if you want an authentic spanish fish restaurant which is always busy, always good and so cheap try casa juana's in alcala!  i think it shuts on a wednesday, but well worth the 7 euro in a taxi!  no menus, you just choose your fish and they cook it! you get canarian potatoes with mojo and salad.  dont be put off by the outside, its lovely inside!

  • Maps,
If you want good tapas for very little money try the Caldera opposite the new police station and the Bomberos near Transito.
The tapas is excellent and you will be pleasantly surprised when you get the bill. 2 Euro's in a taxi.

  • lower santiago.  Just along from the barcelo santiago hotel there is a new building which has power fm upstairs, on the pavemnet side theer are 2 shops Verde and Spar (not open last week still has shop fiters in) but if you walk down either side of the building you will find a restaurant on both sides, El Timon to the right and Barco de Nino on the left.

Don't be so ridiculous Janey, the last thing anyone would want is a restaurant in Tenerife, especially with the likes of you bad mouthing everywhere just to promote your own establishment! I am a regular holidaymaker and used to enjoy constructive comments on this site but you seem to be the epitomy of bad taste - sorry if I dared to hit one of your nerves but it appears you have plenty of them!  I just dislike your attitude as it puts tourism off - I doubt you would be so cocky if you had to use your real name!!

  • I agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion, however Miss Janey in MY opinion makes comments for her OWN reward and I know by fact that most of the people that she comments on or sl--s off are people that she has had a personal problem with in the past, this is obvious, all you have to do is go back over all of her previous comments.  Again in my opinion (which I am entitled to) she should be constructive and not vindictive with personal views - it's funny that most people she comments on have left the island or gone to work away!!
This in my book is called cowardice.
