My wife and I had dropped our car off in Cueva del Polvo the other day and wandered around the block for a bite to eat at Bar Cafeteria Alexis. It turned out to be the wisest move we've made in ages.
Bar Alexis is a grill restaurant where fresh meat and fish are grilled on a charcoal fired barbecue. He does great food at great prices. My wife had simply the best grilled chicken she has ever eaten. Alexis seasons it first and then applies copious amounts of mojo while he grills it. The result is crispy on the outside, moist on the inside and spicy throughout.. Half a grilled chicken and chips and salad costs ?5.50 and that includes bread and butter.
I had the grilled solomillo de cerdo, a huge juicy pork tenderloin that set me back ?7 with the accompanying chips. salad and bread and butter. It was wonderful.
He also does pork chops, steak ,bistec de cerdo and a variety of fish (tuna, cherne, squid and octopus) and a bunch of starters all at good prices.
It was also nice to find to find a bar with proper bar prices. A bottle of Dorada is ?1.10, Gordon's Gin, Bacardi and other named spirits go for ?1.50 a measure, and the Canarian house wine is a euro a copa and ?8 euros per litre.
All in all, great food and drink & great value.
