  • If its the Austrian bar on the marina, its lovely. We have afternoon coffee with home made strudel. Gorgeous.

We always go to Hong Kong 97 for a set meal, really cheap but good quality.
El Pescador ok, not fond of the veg they serve tho. There are loads of Mexicans to choose from one in Puerto Santiago, tucked around the corner, then some over on the road towards Arena Beach, opposite The Plaza. All lovely.  San Franciso, Ninos, always good food and service.

Have a fab time, you lucky devils.  :D

  • el timon could be the austrian restaurant your friends are referring to. it is overlooking the sea in the mar y blanc centre in lower pto. santiago.  its very good and reasonable.

barco del nino next door to it is also good, an upmarket fish restaurant.

loads of great restaurants around, depends what type of food you prefer.

  • El Timon in Puerto Santiago is fabulous, we only tried it our 2nd last day and were kicking ourselves we hadnt sampled it earlier...the food is excellent, staff very friendly, the setting is amazing, if you plan dinner around 7.30 you catch the gorgeous sunset.

    Would thoroughly recommend it.

  • Santiago is practically joined on to LG, the actual restaurant in just next to the Barcelo Santiago Hotel, would probably take you about 15 mins to walk from the centre of LG round to Santiago.
El Timon is run by an austrian family, full range of food ..from luscious omlettes at lunch time to Steaks/chicken/fish/pasta. They certainly had Austrian style desserts, but Im not sure what indicates Austrian on the main courses. We sampled the fillet steaks and the garlic chicken (to die for !!),  the total bill for 2 having 2 courses each with wine and liquers was around 50 euros. The sunset is free.

  • its a lovely walk to and from lower pto. santiago to los gigantes along the coast passing by the natural rock pools, the scenery is gorgeous, and its pretty flat although there are about 15 steps at one point.... well worth it though!

if you are coming from los gigantes, the walkway is reached by going along the side of the wine bar and sports centre near the bus stops.

    taxi - 3.50 euro!
