One of the best ways to discover the Island of Tenerife is to hire a car and hit the highway. Away from the madding crowds of the more traditional tourist traps the Island offers an extraordinary mixture of pine forests, desolate volcanic landscapes of the Cañadas ( Canyadas ), mountains and flowers making Tenerife a wonderful place to drive around and explore.

Essential information for driving in Tenerife

All occupants of the car must wear seat belts both in the front and rear of the vehicle.
Here in Tenerife we drive on the right hand side of the road.

The sounding of your horn is not permitted at any time in urban areas, except in an emergency
