The National Powerboat Certificate
PBL 2 COSTAL- Duration: 20-24 hours
school vessels This is designed to give you the necessary confidence
to safely handle small powered craft in coastal waters. The boat handling
and management skills along with an element of navigation and sea law
will equip you to deal with emergencies and enable you to find your way
home!
The course is run on a continual assessment basis, eliminating the need for a stressful formal examination. As long as you dont do something completely foolish or ignore our advice, sooner or later you will pass. We do not charge extra if more practice is
required!
Endorsed by an official translation of the certificate
and syllabus, this is recognised in a number of European countries as
a basic requirement for navigating in coastal waters. The C.E.V.N.I.
test is a requirement for inland waters and is available separately.
The RYA International Certificate of Competence is also available for British citizens or UK residents. Advanced powerboat certificate
-Duration: 18 hours school vessels This is a demanding course that offers
a professional qualification in the U.K.
Passage planning, night pilotage and rough weather handling make up some of the elements. Entry requirement PBL2 + Day skipper shore based
standard
48 hours of intensive theoretical training in sea law,
navigation and meteorology.
