And the winners are..................... 18th February 2005

15 year old Estefanía Mesa León, representing Perfumería Safari with a dress designed by Fran García was crowned Queen of Los Gigantes Carnival 2005 last night by the local Mayor and last years carnival queen Eunice Forte Cabral, in front of a packed audience in the Plaza Bouganville.

After the opening ceremony which was dedicated to the magical world of the circus, with clowns, and fire-eaters, the show carried on with the music and dance troupes "the Tabajaras" of Santa Cruz and "Sureño Dawn" from Santiago del Teide. There was a touch of humor provided by the murga group "the Chinchosos" that delighted the audience with their cheeky recitals.

The runners up for the Queen of Carnival competition were: first Lady of Honor Jasmina Negrín Perez, 18 years of age, representing the Chicken Shack, second lady of honor Hara Rodríguez Pérez, of 21 years of age, representing Armando S.L, third lady of honor went to Patricia Herrera Leon, of 15 years of age, representing Radio Gigante and Bazar Restaurante Los Corales and fourth lady of honor was Libertad Beneito Benedicto, 16 years of age, representing the Dumbo nursery Center and Sole Group.
.........................and 6 year old Carla Dévora Robinson,representing the "La Cometa" youth centre in Puerto de Santiago,with a costume designed by William Luis entitled the trapeze artist and the circus, was crowned Junior Carnival Queen on Friday Evening.

Queen of Carnival 2005

A total of five young women are competing for the title of "Queen of Carnival 2005" in this 25th anversary year of Carnival in Los Gigantes. The gala selection dance will take place on the 17th february from 9.00pm in the Bouganville Plaza Los Gigantes.

Thurday 17th February
  • Gala Election of the Adult Carnival Queen
starting at 21.00 hours this Gala event will be presented by Gracia López (presenter fromTelevisión Autonómica de Canarias) and in English by Steve Gerald. During the election process, when all the candidates will parade in their wonderful costumes on stage in the Bouganville Plaza Los Gigantes, there are to be performances by Comparsas, Murgas, the Magic of the Circus and some surprises!
Friday 18th February
  • Gala Election of the Junior Carnival Queen
starting at 17.00 hours we are to be delighted by the very best that the circus has to offer, as welllas performances by local song and dance and satirical groups.
  • Grand Fancy Dress Ball
starting at 23.00 hours in the Plaza Bouganville, you can dance until the early hours at the grand open air fancy dress ball, to the music of Orquesta Wamampi
Saturday 19th February
  • Childrens' Carnival Procession
starting at 17.00 hours there will be a mini parade and fancy dress competition in the Plaza Bouganville
  • Grand Fancy Dress Ball
starting at 23.00 hours in the Plaza Bouganville, you can dance until the early hours at the grand open air fancy dress ball, to the music of the Orquesta Fortaleza and the Arguayo Bandi
Sunday 20th February
  • The Grand Parade and The Main Arena
Monday 21st February
  • The Burial of the Sardine procession from 21:00 horas
