Information for Sailors arriving or departing the Los Gigantes Marina Tenerife

Clearance

The marina monitors VHF channel 9 permanently and skippers are advised to call up the harbour before entering. The port office is in the control tower on the port side as one enters, at the end of the inner mole by the reception dock (Tel. 00 34 922 868002, Fax 00 34 922 860637). Yachts can clear in during office hours, 0800-2100 seven days a week, all formalities being completed in the control tower. Outside of hours, yachts should wait at the reception dock.

Docking

Puerto de Los Gigantes is a private marina dwarfed by the sheer cliffs of Los Gigantes. Developed as a marina for residents, the moorings are mostly occupied by small speed boats. There are 375 places in the marina and 20 per cent are kept for visitors. Water and electricity, which are laid on to each berth, are included in the docking fees as are the use of showers on the dock. Repair Facilities

The marina has a 60 ton travelift, and there is a small area for storage or working on yachts on the hard. There is also a fixed crane of 3 ton capacity. The boatyard offers a good range of repair work, in fibreglass, painting, carpentry or electrical repair, but for anything more complicated, the marina office will call out the relevant specialist.

Marine Supplies

The marina has its own chandlery, with a reasonable selection, including Spanish charts, batteries, ropes, and oils, and are the agents for Volvo Penta, Sole engines and Jotun paints. The fuel station is by the reception dock, opens from 07:00 till 17:00. Gas bottles can be filled at the Ferreteria in Puerto de Santiago

Communications

The post office is at the top of the hill going out of Los Gigantes, in Puerto Santiago, open from 08:00 till 14:00 Monday to Saturday. There are telephone cabins in the marina complex. Faxes can be received at the marina office on 0034 922 860 637. There are various internet cafes

Laundry

There is a laundromat in El Varadero not far from Los Gigantes

Medical/Health

Medical emergencies, including the helicopter rescue service is reached by dialling 061. There is a medical centre at the rear of the tourist complex. The Centro de Salud Los Gigantes caters mainly for visitors (Tel. 922 860432), while there is also the Centro Medico Los Gigantes (Tel. 922 861699) and the Red Cross (922 860055).
