Golf in Tenerife, Listing and information on golf courses in Tenerife
Golf in the Canary Islands is becoming the first choice for golfing holidays, with Tenerife being one of the most popular golfing destinations.
With an average temperature of 24° C and the Atlantic Ocean surrounding coasts, the Isle of Tenerife offers you eight magnificent 18 holes golf courses and three 9 holes courses with superb sea and mountain views which turns playing golf into an amazing experience.
Costa Adeje Golf

This enjoyable 27 hole course opened in 1998 and rapidly became one the most popular courses in Tenerife. It was designed by international renowned architect Pepe Gancedo, The course overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and the island of La Gomera, as well as the mountain range of Adeje, and Playa de la Americas.
The course settles naturally into the terrain and the restored stone walls of the former agricultural terracing.
The greens are large with a number of doglegs. The round begins with a long par five (510m) with bunkers situated to catch stray balls off the tee. The 2nd is short with a ravine to the right and a green formed on two levels to make it more difficult when the flag is placed at the back. The fourth follows a gentle slope down towards the sea and is crossed by the step-like stone walls of the old banana plantation.
To get from the main course to the driving range and the golf school, there is an elevator to take players and even buggies down through the natural rock.
Los Palos Golf

It is a short course, but don't let that put you off. It is certainly not a pitch and putt and there are plenty of challenges to be encountered over its 914 meters: five holes are affected by water and others require very accurate hitting.
This Golf centre opened in December 1994 and was designed by Jose Maria Olazabal's company, Integral Golf Design.
The course is built on a slight incline and is situated among banana trees. A perfect place to spend a couple of hours on a round of golf, or become familiar with the game.
There is a PGA professional, driving range, chipping area and putting green where individual and group classes are given in several languages.
Facilities include a restaurant, golf shop, changing rooms and showers. There is a children's play area which allows parents to play a stress free round of golf.
Golf Del Sur

Golf del Sur was also the setting for two golf driving distance records, both of which were set by Britain's Karl Woodward. First he set a new record of 398 yards and then, a few months later, he managed to break the legendary 400-yard barrier with a huge stroke, which sent the ball flying 408 yards.
This Tenerife golf course has a very scenic layout designed by Pepe Gancedo.
The wide fairways are trimmed with a wide variety of indigenous plants including palm trees and giant cactus; this 800 square meter course stretching out beside the Atlantic Ocean is like an oasis in the desert. Particularly difficult is the 3rd hole of the course. To the right of the wide fairway is a water hazard, behind which lies an impressive ravine with an ochre-coloured rock face, while to the left is a gaping bunker of black sand.
The club offers a golf school and practice facilities, a tennis court, lawn bowls green, bar-restaurant and pro shop.
Golf Real (El penon)

On the course itself the fairways are lined with Canarian pine trees, bay trees, large eucalyptus and flowering shrubs.
Par for the course is a challenging 71 (5687 metres) with several holes which require a well-placed tee shoot to enable you to gain a good approach to the greens.
Situated next to the 10th tee is a halfway house which serves drinks and snacks.
Abama Golf

Abama Golf rapidly became one of the finest golf courses in Spain and has been owned by the Ritz Carlton group since June 2007.
The 6232 metre par 72 course was designed by Dave & Mark Thomas. It has a huge variety of trees (25,000 in total) and some of the most beautiful flowering shrubs. There are 22 lakes and many waterfalls, as well as stunning views of the neighbouring Island of La Gomera. It was awarded the prestigious Rheingolf Golf in the first year.
The course range from a height of 315 metres above sea level to 79 metres above, and is open from 8am till 8pm for 365 days of the year.
The facilities, which are excellent, include chipping green, practice area, putting green and golf academy.

It was opened in 2003 and designed by the very talented Severiano Ballesteros.
Its layout is unique and it overlooks the breath taking rugged coastline of "Isla Baja".
The pro shop offers trolley, buggy and club rental and there are practice facilities to suit everyone.
